ACR
Programs and Initiatives:
I am interested in learning
about the different types of programs that exist
for school and workplace conflict resolution.
I also would like to know how to implement such
programs.
You may want to connect with ACR’s Workplace
and Organizational Conflict Management Sections:
many of these folks do workplace ADR systems
design. ACR’s Education Section would
be an excellent resource on school conflict
resolution programs. To learn more about our
Sections, and find contact information for Section
leaders, click here: http://www.acrnet.org/sections/index.htm.
If you are interested in implementing programs
in your workplace, or becoming more involved
in conflict resolution in general, you may want
to consider joining ACR. One of the advantages
to those new to the field is the mentoring program
we offer. You can be connected with a mentor
whose practice is in workplace settings, or
in educational settings, for example. To learn
more about ACR membership, click here: http://www.acrnet.org/membership/index.htm.
I would like to apply
for an Approved Training Program, what is required?
To apply for an Approved Training Program
please visit http://www.acrnet.org/referrals/trainers.htm
for a basic overview of what is required to
apply. All applicants must be current Advanced
Practitioner member of ACR's Family Section
and must have previous experience as a presenter
in relevant workshops, seminars, and courses.
Approved Training Programs are the property
of the organizations applying and Approved Training
Programs cannot function without an Advanced
Practitioner providing the training.
I would like to know
more about getting mediation training. Can you
refer me to some trainers?
Please visit http://www.acrnet.org/referrals/trainers.htm
for more information about ACR's Approved Training
programs. ACR’s Approved Training Programs
are currently for Family Mediation only. ACR
does not currently have any other approved training
programs.
What is Conflict Resolution
Education (CRE)?
Conflict resolution education comes in many
forms: it could be a skills training; it could
be infused into courses such as history, political
science, or literature; or it could be a part
of a teacher's classroom management plan. It
can be tailored to children and adults of all
ages. Conflict resolution education complements,
but does not duplicate, other important school
programs that address such issues as managing
crises, reducing prejudice, and ending alcohol
and drug abuse. It offers all students life
skills that help them avoid inappropriate, unhealthy,
or unsafe behaviors.
How can I get involved
in the work ACR is doing in the field of conflict
resolution?
ACR’s efforts to strengthen the conflict
resolution field include its Legislative and
Public Policy and Quality Assurance Initiatives.
Information about these initiatives may be found
at: http://www.acrnet.org/about/initiatives/index.htm.
ACR’s committees and task forces conduct
much of the organization’s substantive,
field-building work. ACR’s President appoints
members to serve on committees and task forces.
To learn more about ACR’s committees and
task forces, go to: http://www.acrnet.org/about/.
I want to know more
about ACR’s Legislative and Public Policy
Initiatives? What are they and how can I get involved?
ACR's Legislative and Public Policy (LPP)
efforts are focused on promoting the field of
conflict resolution to the general public; informing
members about, and shaping, important public
policy developments in the field; and creating
the structures for ACR to support the growth
of the field. The LPP Committee coordinates
ACR's legislative and public policy initiatives.
To learn more about these initiatives, please
visit: http://www.acrnet.org/about/initiatives/publicpolicy/
or contact us at
membership@acrnet.org.
I want to know about
ACR’s Quality Assurance Initiatives. Is
ACR doing something about a certification process?
In an effort to shape the future of conflict
resolution practice in ways that enhance its
value, ACR has launched four quality assurance
initiatives: participation on the Joint Committee
on Model Standards of Conduct for Mediators
(JCMSCM), the Ethics Initiative, the Advanced
Practitioner Workgroup, and the Mediator Certification
Task Force. Please visit http://www.acrnet.org/about/initiatives/QualityAssurance/
to learn more about these initiatives, and to
read about ACR’s work on mediator certification.
Does ACR offer any internships?
Yes. ACR offers internships each semester,
and its interns work on projects in a variety
of areas. Past interns have worked on ACR’s
conferences and publications, done marketing
research, and supported ACR’s public policy
and conflict resolution education initiatives.
For more information on current ACR internships,
go to: http://www.acrnet.org/resources/internships.htm
or contact
membership@acrnet.org.
